Non-Traditional Volunteer Opportunities
Have a unique service to offer or a product we might need? Often non-traditional venues bless us more than you can imagine! Below please find a list of our special needs.
Blogging, Facebook, Twitter
Do you have a blog, Facebook or Twitter? You can earn volunteer hours by posting about our sale on your blog or other social media network. If you are interested in volunteering in this way please email us for further details.
Cooperative Advertising
If you have a website or publication and allow Boutique for a Week to place a banner ad on your site or print ad in your publication, we will allow you to place an ad on our site or will exchange for volunteer hours.
Sorting at end of the sale
If you can organize a group of teenage students who might need community service hours to come and sort unsold clothing items, then you will earn hours toward volunteer pre-sale privileges. We are always happy to sign any volunteer paperwork for the service hours completed at our event.
Flyer to Church, School, Work, Daycare.
If you are interested in distributing flyers for volunteer hours, you must first email Boutique For A Week for approval of your planned distribution location(s). If you neglect to email us for approval, you risk not being credited with volunteer hours! Once you receive email confirmation, print our Full page Advertising Flyer or a 4 per page Handout and distribute it to 250 people. Email Boutique For A Week after completion, and you will be able to shop as a 4 Hour Volunteer. The flyers must be delivered/handed out by Monday, March 5th.
To Earn 4 Volunteer Hours (or combine with more hours to upgrade to a higher volunteer status):
Flyer Delivery to Day Cares
Print our 4 per page Handout and distribute 250 flyers total. Choose the day cares nearest you and call them to confirm:
- They have not received handouts already from another volunteer
- They will be willing to give them to parents if you deliver to them
- Their address and directions
- Number of kids they have, i.e. copies you will need to deliver to them
- Email address of the day care so that we can thank them with an early shopping pass too!
- Flyers must be delivered by Monday, March 5th.
Email Boutique for a Week for approval with the following information:
- The day cares you intend to deliver to
- # of kids at each day care
- Day cares’ email addresses
- If you neglect to email us for approval, you risk not being credited with volunteer hours!
TV/Radio coverage
Arrange for news coverage with someone who reports at one of the major news or radio stations and get BOUTIQUE FOR A WEEK interviewed.
Magazine/Newspaper coverage
Arrange for news coverage with an area or regional magazine or newspaper and get editorial coverage for our event.
Infant & Children’s Nurses/Office Staff
If your job involves working in an office that specializes in infants and children, print and post our flyer in your office and 250 handouts.
Gift Certificates
Provide us with a $25 gift certificate to Wal-Mart, Office Max, Staples or Target.
Meals: Are you a fabulous cook? We need to eat!
